After nine years and four kids later, we have finally received our Elf from the North Pole. I’m guessing our crew became so large that the big guy couldn’t keep up with our ‘naughties’ and ‘nices’ all by himself and sent a little help. At least that’s what Daddo and I came up with when Cole asked why we were just now getting our Elf on the Shelf.
This afternoon we went to the tree farm for our annual outing of our start to the Christmas season. After our dose of old John Deere tractors, hay, endless rows of pines, roasted peanuts and candy canes we came home energized and in the mood for decorating our fake tree.
*Sad note: We only accompany Nonnie and Grump to the tree farm for the hide and go seek fun and picture ops. Our tree rule in our home is it can’t be real if there’s a toddler in the house….. And well it’s been awhile since we’ve had a tree that needed watering.
So we got home and got ready for our frito pies and tree decorating when all of a sudden Will and Cole started talking and squirming over by the fireplace. Sitting on our stocking string, ever so comfortably, was an Elf. No one knew how or when he got there only that he was definitely sitting there…. And already watching.
My older boys have heard of the Elf on the Shelf…. Thankfully they’ve never asked where our’s is. But they knew not to touch him and they knew why he was there.
After frito pies and decorating of the tree, which went SURPRISINGLY well based on the fact we have an 18 month old busy hands little girl, we have a fake tree decorated with some what of a color theme, blanketed by nine years and four kids worth of ‘special’ ornaments and a few from Momma and Daddo’s childhood.
Then we all sat on the floor circled in front of Daddo in his chair and listened to him read the book that accompanied our little Elf. At the end of the story we told the kids that we will meet back as a family tomorrow night and decide on our elf’s name. Each person should think of a list and narrow it down to 2-3 favorites then bring it to the family meeting in 24 hours.
Here’s where I could use some help. Send me your ideas for the perfect elf name so my name is the one we choose! My boys kind of discussed their first choices and oh my goodness talk about cliche, been done already, b-o-r-i-n-g! Give me a name that our Elf is proud to have! Help me win the Jackson Elf Name Contest! I mean, Momma has to win right?!
This is all we have to work with so far.
Will’s list:
Help us!
I only have 24 hours! Go!

Ok so I will try this again. We named our Marshall…after I realized it came from the TV show Paw Patrol. But anyways I really thought it was cute and you are more than welcome to still it it you want.
My suggestions for your family Elf:
Skye (Another from paw patrol but cute since he flies through the sky at night)
Dash (Because he's fast)
Jingle (Christmas-ie if thats what your kids want)
Herman (Just because I think its a funny name)
Hermie (The elf from Rudolph so again its Christmas-ie…you have to make him a dentist if you do this. lol!!!)
Oh I really like Jingle and Dash…. Maybe even Bolt. But I like Dash too because it's like the baby on the Incredibles and my house loves super heroes. Thanks for the ideas Vanessa!
