The 2015 version of my ‘One Week Every Year’ annual post almost didn’t happen.
I’m finding that the older my kids are, the harder it is to have them all together. Our 7 days every year between the two middle boys’ birthdays is always very very busy other than just having two birthdays in one week. The second week of June is heavily baseball. This year we celebrated our 9th bday while at the ballpark and an actual party with friends a few days later. The 5th birthday is having his party a day early because of the brothers’ District tournament and his actual birthday we have no plans. We’re all kind of confused too. It’s ok. Daddo told Rhett ‘Happy Birthday’ this morning, which isn’t really his birthday.
But amongst all the confusion, chaos, slumber parties, water parks, baseball tourneys and bounce houses, I still love my one set of 7 days {6 actually} that I have my kids in sets. Daddo and I are planners, but the one most important thing to plan; our children’s age gap, we have very little thought. That’s one thing we always just let God decide. So what the Big Guy had planned for us was two kids with 19 months between them. Followed by a four year gap and exactly 7 days before our third. Then 22 months later the fourth came along. For one week this shows. And I love taking their picture in the same place in our yard every year. Here’s what last year’s looked like One Week Every Year. Oh wait, just realized last year was at a ball park.
And here is the first picture I took two years ago when Cora turned one. The only picture in our yard where I wanted all of them when I came up with the idea. Life is funny.
This year my oldest was gone and wouldn’t be back before the Friday birthday and the age gap change. While we were at a nearby water park celebrating the 9 year old’s belated birthday, I gathered the four together {with a bit of yelling and smiling of course} and had them ‘pose’ for the annual picture.
10, 9, 4, and 3 years old.
Blessed with this mess and we thank Him every day….. for His plans.
