The new blog title and name to my page says it all: girl! It’s been about 2 weeks since Jake and I were told those very distant, almost imaginary words, “it’s a girl.” We’re still not used to saying ‘her’ and ‘she’ and I am completely out of my element when it comes to looking at non-boy baby bedding, clothes and such.
During the all-revealing, life-changing ultrasound prior to the big news, Daddo was eagerly asking questions about the images, size etc. After the ‘G’ word was announced, he was silent. I started giggling and saying ‘oh my goodness’ (insert Jakes full name here a few times). Still Daddo was silent. He leaned against the wall, then the nearby cabinet. I think his first words, finally after a few moments, were ‘are you sure?’ After checking back in that area 3 more times, it was confirmed again and again. I was still giggling.
My first girly item to purchase was immediately after we left the Drs office. I picked out a cute little pink baby book. There were two girl books to choose from. Same price. One was pink and sparkly and said ‘Our Little Princess.’ The other one was pink and brown and said ‘Little girls are Heaven sent.’ I asked Daddo which one he liked best. He chose the less sparkly one and said , ‘She’s going to be a little lady.’

And here she is.

The brothers: Daddo and I couldn’t wait to go tell Will and Cole who were still at school. Jake dropped me off at LC and then he went back to WR. We both decided to go straight to the boys’ classrooms and tell them in person. I called Cole out in the hall and showed him the first picture of his beautiful baby sister. He said in a fun, playful voice, ‘ah man! I always wanted a sister!’ Huge smile from his face and huge relief for me. I really thought he’d be dissapointed. He then ran back in his room and announced to his classmates, ‘the baby’s gonna be a sister!’ Melt my heart. Daddo said Will was just as excited. Huge smile on his face. His teacher let him call me and he could hardly talk. He was giddy like his momma.

Here’s a video that Rhett’s babysitter sent me upon hearing the news that he will also have a baby sister. Adorable. He still can’t say ‘sister’ perfectly. It’s more like ‘shisher.’

Right now, no name has officially been picked, but the brothers are calling her ‘the girl’ or ‘the sister.’
‘The sister’ is super blessed to have such wonderful big brothers. Just what does she have to look forward to as their sister? Here’s what her big brothers have been up to the last month or two. She’s in for a lot of fun that’s for sure!

Learning all about cute, furry animals.

Quality time with her Daddo.

What girl doesn’t love dress-up?

Attending numerous spectator sports where she gets to watch sweaty boys.

Enjoying a nice Sunday stroll.

I think the sister is going to love being part of our family don’t you?
