I don’t have time to read big, adult books, but I do enjoy reading children’s books to my kids…. when I’m not exhausted.

Some of my all-time favorites are stories about Christmas and Santa Claus. I pack them away each year with my decorations, so when I pull them out each December, they’re like new all over again!

What better way to explain the true meaning of Christmas than reading a fun, colorful, entertaining story with your kids?

My most favorite of all is titled, ‘J’ Is for Jesus.

Last night I pulled it out to read to Rhett who’s really getting excited about his alphabet and such. He said ‘J is for Jackson!’
I said, ‘Yes it sure is, but it’s also the first letter of Jesus’ name.’
I told him that Christmas is all about celebrating Jesus’ birthday. He really enjoyed this story and it was simple enough that he was able to explain to me afterward about the Shepherds, and the red and white on the candy cane. He also LOVES candy canes!  Even better for him!

I also love the book Room For A Little One. This is told from the perspective of the animals in the barn the night Jesus was born. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful.

A super cute Santa book that my kids have always gotten a kick out of is Santa’s Workshop; a peek and see book.

Another funny book about Santa is the vibrantly illustrated story titled Santa Knows. We just got this book last year, and my older boys think it is super funny…. and a little intimidating. 🙂

These are just some of my faves that I wanted to share. December is here and the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is smacking us in the face. Don’t let the little things, the important moments, be forgotten. Remember what all of the tinsel and glitter, parades and lights are about. Reading these little books each night can be great reminders.
