Here I go once again making a list because so much happened I couldn’t write about it all. Summer 2012 was definitely a memorable one for the Jackson’s. We all learned A LOT during the past 3 months, especially Jake and I. Starting with May and ending, well today, here is the ever-dreaded LIST of the Jackson summer.
May 22 Cora Love is born at Baylor Medical in Dallas.
May 28 Annual Memorial Day cook out and swim in our back yard (couldn’t miss that!)
May 29 Daddo, Cora Love and I drive to Children’s in Dallas for pre-op labs. We all three stay the night in the McDonald House in Dallas (little piece of Heaven on Earth).
May 30 7:30 am Cora Love has surgery to repair a choledochal cyst on her liver.
May 30-31 Our faith in Him is tested. We are reminded how much we are loved and how important family, friends and our church are in our lives. The power of prayer is just that…. powerful.
May 31 Cole graduates from Kindergarten at LC
May 31 Will receives All A Honor Roll award and Library Patron award
May 31 Rhett is admitted to Mother Francis with Croop. Daddo drives to Tyler to be with him.
June 3 Cora Love comes home for good!!
June 4-7 Cole goes to basketball camp at TJC
June 19 Daddo takes Cole to Splash Kingdom for his birthday with Talon, Sarah and Bailey. Rhett falls at McDonald’s. We end up in urgent care. That’s the fourth hospital we’re paying.
June 15-19 Will’s All-Star baseball team makes it to the championship game at the District tourney against Nacogdoches, who later went on to win the State tourney.
June 24 Combined birthday party for Rhett (2) and Cole (6) in our backyard. Mickey Mouse and Avengers were the themes. Both boys had their friends there to celebrate.
June 25 Big boys and Daddo and Uncle Ash enjoy a Rangers game (they lost).
June 26 Cora has check up with her surgeon and is given the all clear. Her bilirubin is normal!
June 26 Rhett’s TWO and totally enjoying the ‘Terrible Two’s’ in all their glory! He loves his ball caps and has to sleep in one every night.
July 2 All 6 of us leave in the big truck pulling the camper trailer and head to San Antonio for a week long camping trip. One stop for gas, lunch at Chick-Fil-A, coupled with a blowout diaper by Cora and we arrive in only 7.5 hours! I only spent half the trip climbed over the seat with my hiney facing the oncoming traffic handing out snacks and breaking up fights. Just half.
July 3 All 6 of us spend the day at Sea World and didn’t kill each other! Actually we had (gulp) fun! Rhett did NOT appreciate Shamu soaking him in the ‘wet zone.’ Not at all. Will LOVED the roller coaster Steel Eel and rode it about 10 times. Cole loved ‘getting wet’ at the water park. Cora enjoyed sleeping… at the Sea Lion show, the Shamu show, in the penguin exhibit, at lunch, at the pool, etc.
July 4 Celebration of Independence at the Alamo!
July 6 I take a job at West Rusk.
July 9-13 Will goes to basketball camp at KC.
July 17 Will and Cole’s dentist appointment and infamous ‘getting out the door’ post.
July 18 Cora consistently sleeps through the night. I give credit to the book Baby Wise that I read way back with Will and have followed ever since. She’s a happy, calm and scheduled baby who’s parents are well rested and happy as well. 🙂
July 21-23 Will, Cora Love and I take a trip to visit my BFF Amy and her family. Always have fun with those girls, plus I got to see a few of my U of H cheer friends and meet their kids. What fun! Cole and Daddo go to the deer lease.
July 25 Me dentist. Me cracked tooth. Fix it when I have the time.
July 26 Cora Love 2 month check up….. she’s a HEALTHY girl!
July 30 Will goes to the Orthodontist. Yes, he’s 7.
August 9-12 Weekend getaway to Crystal Beach. Wonderful family time spent crab hunting, playing in the sand, jumping the waves and not putting on shoes for 3 days. Rhett did NOT like the water or waves at the beach. Sand he enjoyed but only behind the Ranger or finally in a large hole. Will wouldn’t get out of the water. Cole used his radar ears for the ice cream truck twice a day. And Cora Love is a professional shade bather under the umbrella in the ocean breeze. Momma and Daddo enjoyed the (yes relaxing) family time.
August 13-present Free hair cuts for the boys at JC Penneys. Time spent juggling multiple kids, sitters and grandmas so I could move out of one class room and into another.
August 17 Jake installed the Insinkerator garbage disposal we’ve had since Christmas. 🙂
August 20 Back to work for Momma. Washing machine broke with standing water inside. Cora and Rhett do surprisingly well this week with Nonnie, Grammy and Ms Ashley. Starting about 3 weeks ago we’ve seen a subtle change in Rhett’s behavior for the better. He’s communicating more and understanding our words.
August 24 Meet the Teacher for me and the big boys. Cole’s going to Kindergarten again. He’s a little sad about not seeing his LC buddies he’s been with for 3 years. But he’s also getting excited about being a Raider and being in a new, big place. We decided when he was born that we’d start him after he turned 6 since he was a summer birthday. Will’s in 2nd grade and has been ready for school for weeks. Cole is just happy staying at home.
Tonight My babes are all in bed and I’m eating cookies. Perfect end to a wonderful summer.
