Randomness post!

SO much has happened in the Jackson home since my last post 3 weeks ago, I’ve had trouble deciding which one event to blog about….. so this is my randomness post… enjoy.
Will went to baseball camp for the 2nd year in Henderson. Of course he could never get tired of playing ball, 102 degree temps and all. Nothing real memorable happened that week.  He loved it, his assigned coach called him his MVP (made his year), he hit real well off the machine in the end-of-camp scrimmage and threw several outs at short stop.
Jake and I went to the Principal’s conference in Austin for 3 nights….. yes, it was the FIRST time I was gone overnight from Rhett… and it was 3 OVERNIGHTS! I was a wreck for the first day then I just talked myself into enjoying the time we had together away from the kiddos.  Grammy took Will and Cole to the Bobbitt’s beach house at Crystal Beach for the whole time. Ummmm, they were spoiled. Cole told me a secret that he went poop on the beach behind a bush…. “What?” I asked. He said it was a secret that only Grammy knew because she wiped his hiney and then put it in a plastic cup and threw it in the trash. I guess Grammy earned her “Grandma points” for the year.
I had a very stressful, heart-wrenching Mommy week starting Sunday the 19th. First Cole turned the big whole hand, err, 5.  He had his friends over to swim and have cake. His birthday was also on Father’s Day this year.  Seven days later, on Sunday the 26th, my baby boy red head turned 1! Yes, I know, hard to believe. As you can read from an earlier post, First Steps, Rhett has mastered the skill of walking and thus getting into things, including cabinets, shelves, his brothers’ toys, the indoor plants, bathroom medicine cabinets, pantry…… a whole new world has opened up and he loves it.
We had family over for Rhett’s birthday and we enjoyed cake and ice cream. He dove into the layers of icing after he cried for about 2 minutes during the birthday song. He satisfied the older people’s desire for baby entertainment and there were plenty of snapshots taken.
That same weekend, our t-ball team traveled to Palestine on Saturday for the Dixie District All-Star tournament.  Yes, All-Star T-ball…. if I’m not mistaken, that is an oxymoron right students? Our little team consisting of barely 5 yr olds and 6 yr olds played against big schools’ “A” teams comprised of all 6 year olds. The “B” teams, or 5 years olds, were in the other bracket.  But we still got us a win against Fairfield. We lost against Panola A and then lost to Palestine A to finish out our season. Little Cole was a huge surprise for us. He really stepped up in the outfield and threw out some runners at 2nd base. Willbo played great getting several double plays at pitcher and short stop and catching every line drive and pop up that came his way. He really knows the game and understands the plays and where to send the ball.  The hundreds of hours playing Wii BIGS baseball and Playstation Portable Major Leagues couldn’t have anything to do with it.
Life in the Jackson home was going quite smoothly until just this past Wednesday tragedy struck. We awoke to find our kitty cat Hambone was missing. The boys looked for him and called out but no sign.  Later that day he was found….. let’s just say it involved Busy Hands Cole and the gameroom fridge.  He said he “forgot about him” when I called them in for dinner.
RIP Hambone, you were a great cat.
Rhett has had a few milestone moments just this past week. He loves to blow raspberries on your legs or arms and then look up at you and laugh. He thinks he’s a comedian. He says ‘Uh-Oh’ when he drops something or his push car runs into something. He waves bye-bye, and he can bring you things if you ask for them. He can also understand when you ask him to go get his blanket or “Buddy”. Just tonight at dinner time he showed me the sign language for “more” and “all done”. He’s a first rate scholar I tell you!
The 4th of July is approaching and our backyard pool is sure to be filled with screaming, laughing kids. So far we’ve made tons of memories in our little backyard resort. Rhett is a fish already, holding his breath underwater, blowing bubbles and kicking his feet.  Will has perfected his dive and Cole can swim from one end to the other without taking a breath! They may not look like me at all, but they inherited their Momma’s love for the water.
