First Hospital Experience

We have three boys. We have only had one major experience with a hospital. Yes, that is amazing. Only one cut below the eye that required a butterfly bandaid and neosporin and one ER trip with croop, completes our ’emergencies’.  The one major hospital experience involved the only child who cannot even walk yet. Rhett had surgery yesterday to repair an undescended testacle from birth, only to find a quarter-size hernia that had to be removed.  All in all, the experience was not a horrible one. For any parent, watching your child go through anything traumatic is difficult, especially when they’re too young to understand your words. Rhett was, as always, a wonderful baby yesterday. The Dr said he repaired everything that need to be and Rhett would be fine with no memories of the experience. For myself, I will have lasting memories of the day. One of my fondest, if that is what it can be called under the circumstances is when he was waking up from the anesthesia.  We just got to the pediatric room and he had been dosing in and out and whining a little. He was sitting up in his bed and attempting to eat cheerios. He had one hanging out of his mouth and had a dazed look on his face of ‘why do I feel this way?’ This lasted only a moment before he layed back down and slept for another hour or so. He was so sweet, yet I know his head probably felt like it weighed 20 lbs.  Jake and I are very blessed to have 3 healthy children. We can only imagine and pray for those families who are dealt with more serious illnesses. And we can only continue to pray for our childrens’ health and happiness.
