The Wonderful World of Cole: If only we could all join him there!

Our middle child has always been special in many ways. Cole McCoy or Coco keeps us laughing every day. Just the other day he made me smile by his wonderful choice of words….. where does it come from?
It was Farm Day at school and everyone was to dress in their best Cowboy/Cowgirl outfits. Of course we had on our jeans, boots, cowboy vest and…. a John Deere hat… the modern day cowboy.  I asked Cole what his ‘Cowboy’ name was… Cole the Kid? “No” he said, “It’s, Dick. I’m Dick the cowboy.”
Then when we were trying to get in the car to go to school and he is as always wondering off into the driveway, the yard, looking for rolly pollies, looking at the sky, the trees, the grass, I said, “Cole climb up in the car, what are you doing?” Without skipping a beat he starts to climb in the car and says, “Ok, Momma, you know me…”
Cole and I get the opportunity to spend every afternoon together while Will’s still at school.  One day we needed to go to the grocery store.  Cole asked if he could have a toy. I explained it was the grocery store not the toy store we were going to.  “Can I have a snack?” he asked.  I told him “No,” again. Then he said, “Momma, I’ll make you a deal. If you get me a snack then it can be our secret and we won’t tell Bubba, ok?” I had to make the deal. He greatly enjoyed his peanuts. 🙂
Our middle child will always have a special place in our hearts. He still thinks I owe him another 6 weeks in my tummy…. he can recite words from songs on the radio at a perfect tune, he’s a cuddle bug, has the fishing and hunting patience of an experienced old man, has my brown eyes and reminds us daily of my dad… how he scratches his belly, wanders off, and makes up the best stories.
